about unasked

Investigating the questions traditional leadership research overlooks.

Leadership advice is everywhere. This independent research initiative examines the personal histories, hidden assumptions and overlooked experiences that may shape how people lead.

the why

For nine years, I have covered leadership and interviewed more than 800 leaders, executives and professionals. I also hold a doctorate in organizational leadership.

Much of today’s leadership conversation focuses on familiar topics such as empathy, inclusion, trust and resilience. These subjects matter, but they are saturated with advice. The questions I find most compelling often receive far less attention.

The Unasked Leadership Questions Project was created to investigate those questions through interviews, surveys and independent research.
